FIND YOUR
VOICE.
FIND YOUR
SOUND.
AND JUST
SMASH IT.
We met Patrick Mason before his set at Volt, where he shared his perspective on entering the music industry and the advice he would give to emerging talents. We also spoke about the inspirational sources.
A: What is your advice for those dreaming of getting into the music industry?
P.M: My career, my professional career in music started two and a half years ago in the pandemic. Yes, I'm a pandemic, baby. But see, you can still make it if you have your priorities straight. You have your USP unique selling point, and you kind of do things differently than anybody else. You know, find your voice, find your sound, find the one thing that sets you apart from everyone else and just smash it.
A: What are the brands that inspire you the most?
P.M: So fashion brands that inspired me recently and pretty much forever. I'm a Margiela boy, down to the heart. I've recently discovered, well, kind of recently discovered Bottega and Lolita for myself. It's, you know, high end luxury, but with a twist. They know exactly how they do their tailoring especially.
The leathers are divine. And of course, everything quirky. You know, I like colors, even though it doesn't look like it right now, but vibrant colors, great cuts and distortions of the human body that will leave people second guessing. I mean, fashion should be fun after all. Don't take it too seriously.
