A: When did your love for fashion start?

T.M.  I've always been a winger if I say I'm close. I think I flew underneath my sister's wing a lot whenever I was little. And so whenever we were in stores, I would always like to be a coassist in styling her. I was not realizing at the time that I would later get really into thrifting whenever I was in junior high, which I feel like is everybody's story. And the Tumblr raised me, and from there, somehow I got a taste for everything. I never expected I'd actually be working in it full time, but yeah, it's always been something I've been really passionate about.

A: How did you start as a creator?

A really lucky sequence of events that I still don't quite understand. But I've always been, like, invested in creativity, which I feel like this is like a story of my generation. Instagram came out whenever I was 12ish. I downloaded that, started taking pictures of, like, randomly.

A: What drives you as a creator?

T.M:Everything. Huh. I feel like my motives have definitely switched as I've gotten older. Whenever I was younger, it was like, definitely from a place of escapism. Because I grew up in Arkansas, there wasn't much around me, so it was a way of, like, forging some sort of glamour in, like, a place where there wasn't. And now it's more so like a challenge. Like, it's kind of become a domino effect where I'm constantly trying to one up a former version of myself, because that's just how you grow.

A: Which is your first memory of New York?

New York, my freshman year of college, spring break, coming with my friend Tamara. Came up here for the first time and stayed at, like, a gorgeous home with her family, who were so, so sweet. Yeah. As soon as I came here for the first time, I knew I had to move here. Something really special about being in the streets and where are we?

A:Where are we now?

T.M:Where are we now? We're in the infamous Times Square of the Lower east side of Manhattan. So. Yeah. Where all of the creatives reside.

A: Tell me, what are the brands that you find most inspiring currently?

T.M: Ann Demeulemeester, obviously, Jonathan Anderson, Anything all the time. Galliano's Margiela, and Galliano's Old Dior. If I'm picking a brand that I want to wear every day: Our Legacy. I'd wear anything of Our Legacy, all the time. I think that the new design direction at Acne has been really, really strong the past couple of years. So I think those are my tops.

A: What are your styling tips?

Layers. Small details, and these were tricky. I wear the same rings every day, the same jewelry, more often than not. That's the little details. I don't keep a lot of, like, super duper loud pieces. I keep a lot of textured pieces which keep laying them on top of each other. Like, even, like a small detail of this or like a tassel. Just easy things. I want to be comfortable, but also I want there to be an official interest to carry a story.
