JIYONGKIM

Ji Yong Kim is the creative director of the namesake South Korean Brand brand founded in Seoul. The designer obtained a Master's degree in menswear at Central Saint Martins where he worked extensively on the concept of originality which helped him develop his ideas and research methods. His unique aesthetic involving asymmetrical markings, geometric patterns, and faded dyes began taking shape when the designer who has always been a collector of vintage denim and military pieces, left one of the jackets he purchased in the sun for a long period of time, resulting in a unique pattern which became one of the main features of his collections. Since the brand's inception the designer hasn't stopped experimenting with weathered fabrics which have been created thanks to the symbiotic relationship between Ji Yong Kim, materials and natural elements.
