Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran are the Canadian artistic and design duo behind Fecal Matter aka Matières Fécales. They are internationally renowned for spreading love by not conforming to aesthetic standards but pushing boundaries and standing for the absolute freedom of expression. We met them in Milan and spent a day shooting and talking about fashion, love and self expression. They have founded Matières Fécales fashion brand based in Paris that has become one of the most talked about signature new brands endorsed by Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson and many others.
A: When did you first fall in love?
H: Well, I have, actually. I've only been with Stephen. I've never been with anyone else. So I guess it's only been one time. I guess. I don't know. It was just a feeling. It was just being comfortable with somebody, being able to be vulnerable with somebody, not feeling judged. I guess in those moments is where it started, I guess.
A: How did you fall in love with Rick?
S: The first time I discovered Rick was before I could be myself. So I think I was, like, maybe 14 years old. And just seeing someone create such darkness and beauty captivated me.
H: It was actually when we were first kind of trying to figure out, like, what our relationship is. I feel like we looked at Rick and Michelle and we're like, well, they made it work. I feel like we can make it work. I love Rick.
A: How did you meet?
H&S: We met at fashion school, and we were just, you know, doing our pattern making and all of that. And honestly, my first impression was not so good. I kind of didn't like you. You didn't like me? We were completely different. I had hair, you had eyebrows. Like, it was a whole different thing. But we realized as humans, we're kind of perfect for each other. You.
